Now that we have intelligence experts, the military community, present and former administration, a Senator, and the media saying that they all knew the evidence was bullshit. Durbin's excuse is that he was sworn to secrecy. I don't know about Dick, I was

ol' crazy Dick

the guy i love most to hate- former vice president Dick Chinstrap Cheney tells Politico that there is a “high probability” of a terrorist attack involving “a nuclear weapon or a biological agent of some kind” and that the current administration is “more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States. ...” Of course the last time Cheney warned us about a likely WMD attack he turned out to be a goofball with a $3 trillion quagmire to sell. Politico : “When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry,” Cheney said. Protecting the country’s security is “a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business,” he said. “These are evil people. And we’re not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek.” We all know Ol' Dick is cutesy with the wordp

fishermen trapped on slab

Media reports put the number of those rescued - thought to be mostly fishermen - at between 100 and 145. Fishermen say ice on Lake Erie has been particularly thick this winter, luring more people on than usual. The ice started to crack when temperatures rose above freezing this weekend and strong gusts of wind pushed on the ice, he told AP. The slab of ice that broke off and floated away was about eight miles (13 km) wide, the Coast Guard said. It is thought the anglers had used wooden pallets to make a temporary bridge across a crack to get further out on the lake, leaving them stranded when the ice shifted and the planks fell in the water. i used to live in Ohio (albeit, shortly) and i imagine a scene more like lemmings than people...

Mo Peanut Blues

we all found out that mr peanut rides dirty. now they deliberately shipped some tainted product: Federal health officials say the Georgia peanut plant at the center of the salmonella outbreak knowingly shipped tainted products. Friday, the FDA said the company sent out peanut butter, chopped peanuts and peanut meal that had tested positive even before it got back any negative findings. Peanut Corp. denies any wrongdoing. The government has opened a criminal investigation. maybe the time has come to hold corparations accountable for the actions of its various organs...hmmmmm indeed. UPDATE: Sat morn -" further investigation showed that the company shipped some of the lots before the second tests were completed. Other lots were shipped without testing, and in some cases, no second test was performed even after the first was positive. "  - source/video -

My Guide to GID-DIY-style Government

being from illinois, i got the " FEVER ". impeachment fever that is. instead of waiting for your favourite politiko to get indicted -- DIY! i have found an online resource to help you get the ball rollin guys! "Jefferson's Manual" is an interpretive guide to parliamentary procedure, and is included (along with the Constitution) in the bound volumes of the Rules of the House of Representatives. It is ratified by each congress (including the current one), and has been updated continuously through the history of our democracy. The section covering impeachment lists the acceptable vehicles for bringing impeachment motions to the floor of the House. the House Judiciary Committee can put together the Articles of Impeachment, someone must initiate the impeachment procedure. Most often, this occurs when members of the House pass a resolution. Another method outl

Withnail & I fan to save Crow Crag

Image
A fan of the classic film Withnail & I is leading a campaign to buy a ramshackle cottage featured in the movie. Bidders including Kate Moss when it is auctioned next week. Others are gathering cash pledges online and hopes to establish a charitable trust to buy the property which featured as Crow Crag. If you have seen the movie you know the cozy spot and the emotion it evokes. My inner demented hermit wishes it had the cash to acquire this property for my own decadent purposes. I don't know who is more evil though, to wit: She is hoping to transform it into a tourist attraction.

Consequences of the Whiskey Rebellion

This marked the first time under the new United States Constitution that the federal government used military force to exert authority over the nation's citizens. It was also one of only two times that a sitting President personally commanded the military in the field; the other was after President James Madison fled the British occupation of Washington, D.C. during the War of 1812 . The military suppression of the Whiskey Rebellion set a precedent that U.S. citizens who wished to change the law had to do so peacefully through constitutional means; otherwise, the government would meet any threats to disturb the status quo with force. The suppression of the Whiskey Rebellion also had the unintended consequences of encouraging small whiskey producers in Kentucky and Tennessee , which remained outside the sphere of Federal control for many more years. In these frontier areas, they also found good corn-growing country as well as limestone -filtered water and therefore began makin

"Dark Flow" Outside Observable Universe

"NASA astrophysicists have discovered what they claim is something outside the observable universe exerting an effect on the observable. The material is pulling clusters of galaxies towards a region of space known not to contain sufficient matter to create the effect. They can only speculate on what the material is and how space might differ there: 'In these regions, space-time might be very different, and likely doesn't contain stars and galaxies (which only formed because of the particular density pattern of mass in our bubble). It could include giant, massive structures much larger than anything in our own observable universe. These structures are what researchers suspect are tugging on the galaxy clusters, causing the dark flow.'"
